General
Please take the time to refer to this contract thorough the year.
Lessons begin in August and September and continue through the last week in May. There will be no lessons the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas or the week of spring vacation. A calendar of events will be posted in the studio and blogsite. PLEASE check and respond to the emails I send.
Ask questions if you don’t understand or are having problems. If you get discouraged with your piano progress, let me know. I have ideas that may help. You can contract me through systems above or in person.
Financial Responsibilities
A monthly charge of $40 for a half hour weekly lesson for four weeks, $60 for 45 minute lessons for four weeks, $75 for a full hour lesson for four weeks, or $10 a lesson is due by the 1st class of the month. Please sign the payment sheet every month to record your payment.
This does not include any fees for music that will be purchased for lessons throughout the year. You are responsible to purchase your lesson manuals and recital pieces. These can be purchased online or music stores such as Marysville Music.
Performances
There will be two student recitals during the year – winter and spring. The student is also encouraged to perform for family, friends, at church, and as opportunities arise. Involvement of friends and family encourage the student to do their best performance.
Attendance
Please be on time. Be considerate of other students leaving or arriving for their classes. Please do not knock at the front door. Enter the studio and start to prepare for lessons. If previous student is still in lessons, please wait outside of the studio until they have been dismissed.
I do not make up lessons for reasons other than funerals, severe weather or an illness. I need to be notified at least 3 hours prior to lessons if you will not be attending. Makeups will be made at my discretion. Makeups normally occur on Mondays or Fridays.
Regarding vacations, I require payment only for the weeks attended if there is sufficient advanced notice for weeks of absences.
2 no shows without notice can result in this contract being terminated.
Parents are welcome to attend any lesson at any time. I request that a parent attend at least one lesson per month to understand their child’s progress and responsibilities. Please remember that in order for the student and teacher to have an uninhibited communication system it is not recommended that the parent sits in the studio itself for every lesson. Siblings are encouraged not to attend; however if unavoidable, I request that siblings wait in the front room and do not enter the studio during lesson time.
Practice
Assuring success in piano lessons is dependent upon correct and consistent practice habits. In order for students, parents and the teacher to experience success, the following is recommended:
